MY SUGGESTION FOR A PROTEST SONG
THE USED - REVOLUTION
"All revolutions are impossible until they happen, then they become inevitable."
It's not enough to kill the past, be blind to history.
And all at once there's a black cloud coming made of gasoline.
I see that you have set the price, made sure that nothing's free.
One way to move forward is to learn who's stopping me.
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Burn! like a fire in the rain, like a fire in the rain.
This is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution. Yeah!
We looked at the price tag, and it's one we can't afford.
We were taught that progression means accumulating more.
Yeah, it's not to protect ourselves, so why are we at war?
And isn't it obvious or adding up the score?
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Burn! like a fire in the rain, like a fire in the rain.
This is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution. Yeah!
I'll never turn my back on where i'm from.
I'll never stop believing. I'll always love my home.
But from that love I've noticed who's been burned,
I've noticed who's still bleeding, it seems the fire has grown.
So from now on I pledge allegiance,
to a world that's so much different.
Where no one suffers, everyone is free.
Revolution starts with me.
Revolution! Revolution! Calling for a revolution!
Revolution! Revolution! Calling for!
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, (this is the end..)
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Yeah! this is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution.
Burn! like a fire in the rain, like a fire in the rain.
This is the end, this is the end, calling for revolution. Yeah!
Calling for revolution! Yeah! Calling for revolution!

So, this my proposal. This protest song called "revolution" criticisms all the historical figures and corporations that have been disfavoring the society. The intention of this song is to make us realize that sometimes the system acts regardless our view point and when that happens his actions end harming us... Obviously we cannot tolerate it, and the only way to end with this iniquities is to take the control of the situation instead of the thousands of corrupted politics that are interested in themselves and in his economical-well-situated "friends". In other words, the unique journey we can take part of to correct the society, is a revolutionary road which ends in the congress. For a world of justice and a future to believe in.
I really agree with the meaning of this song. At the present time, here in Spain, we have a big, big, political problem related with what I talked before: we have a corrupt government that only looks for the "top" of the society, and instead of trying to improve education, or creating job places, they spend the most of the time disusing with the opposition and hiding blatantly all his scams and thefts... I'd really like to follow the song's advice and start a revolution to jail all this incompetents... Anyway, I liked to work with this topic because of his originality and maybe because I've could vent myself ... see ya in the next post !
During the chorus, the lyrics make reference to "the end", (I made a my-world about that), but summarizing it can be considered a perfect world where everyone is an important part of it. The political system's objective is the satisfaction of all the population, not just the satisfaction of the privileged ones... In some point of the song it talks to a beautiful past, where everything was OK but now it is "burnt and bleeding", and that makes anyone feel bad about it. The objective of this explanation is to make us questioning what could have been about that nice memory. Here the meaning of the song takes an air of vengeance, a revenge of an idyllic future ("the end") that the system's doing buried. I'd like to highlight the first quote of this song that says that "All revolutions are impossible until they happen, then they become inevitable". It is from a South African activist called Judge Albie Sachs. I focus on it because this citation it is one of my favorites, it is fully of meanings, easy to understand and pretty appropriate in the adequate context.
